Installation Of Software In Ubuntu and Other Linux Operating Systems: 2nd Version Code Release Announcement
BigTech have no place in fairwissenschaft because they are based on principles that are contrary to fair/FAIR principles of fairwissenschaft. As regulatory torch bearers of the fight against BigTech malpractices and illegal activities, the EU slack regulations, including cookies regulations (ref1) it is now more important than ever to avoid BigTech and use BetterTech. We have repeatedly learnt, from Snowden revelations and recent events that using Russia, US and China’s technology/energy/investment such as Kaspersky, TikTok and Apple/Meta/Alphabet/Amazon/Microsoft/Nvidia to name a few, makes non-China non-US non-Russia countries and organizations vulnerable to state sponsored hacking and espionage (ref1-ref30) — Kaspersky and TikTok are both rightfully banned in US, while Meta’s Instagram Facebook rightfully faces limited ban in Australia for children/teens. These BigTech from US and China were classified under ‘Gatekeeper’ designation by EU as few years back i.e. regulation protective of users, but this month its reported that these gold-standard regulations will be slacked by EU (ref1). Usage of BetterTech (usually from EU, UK, Switzerland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong-Kong, China pro-privacy anti-BigTech, US pro-privacy anti-BigTech and other products from companies/academia/start-ups/non-profit/open-source not under China/Russia/US BigTech) creates a symbiotic relation between the user and the BetterTech, because unlike BigTech, BetterTech don’t treat and sell users/data as products, and through usage by users the BetterTech gain visibility and profitability.
The simple act of using BetterTech such as ‘ublock origin’, ‘Ghostery Ad Blocker’, ‘AdGuard’ extensions on ones browsers, using Ecosia, Startpage, Qwant, DuckduckGo (US privacy focused) search engines instead of Google or Bing, and using Waterfox, Vivaldi, Opera, LibreWolf, Tor Browsers, Brave (US privacy focused) instead of Microsoft Edge, Apple Safari, Google Chrome browsers, and using VPN such as ProtonVPN, Surfshark, ExpressVPN, AdGuard VPN, Nord VPN, Windscribe, and Cloud services/Web hosting from Mega.nz, SiteEU, OVH, Hostinger, 20i, HostXNow, SiteGround, pcloud, internxt, icedrive, koofr, terabox, sync.com, filen.io, alternatives to BigTech, and alternatives to US’s Cloudflare CDN like Key CDN, Blazing CDN, Myra CDN, Leaseweb CDN and OVHcloud CDN greatly enhance user security and privacy, protecting them from hackers (state sponsored or otherwise), BigTech and their Data Brokers, which in turn increases national security — in this website https://european-alternatives.eu you may find additional alternatives to BigTech. If you must use BigTech, use alias email and second phone numbers like from Hushed and Numero, so that BigTech cannot use the phone number and email you used to register with them to track you for targeted ads, which is the case when you use the same phone number and email for BigTech and other sites — when Bigtech cannot track your purchases and activities online on other sites/apps/products they cannot use you for targets ads, so they cannot demand money from others to pay them for these targeted ads, which will destroy the whole profiting from user data model of BigTech and users will become users once again, and users will not be the product for Bigtech to sell.
This is an update on the previous release, which further simplifies the usage of BetterTech. The following changes have been applied:
1) Ubuntu OS, Linuxmint OS and Kubuntu OS installation scripts have been combined into a single folder, instead of separate folders.
2) Only online installation mode is provided to reduce the size of the full installation. Users can install the software and then write its (.img file) to multiple disks (hard drive, usb or sd cards) offline using Terminal ‘dd’ or gnome-disk utility.
3) Proton VPN installation has been separated to its own script.
4) Teleguard and Surfshark installation is now via their official .deb and .sh installers, respectively instead of using snap/flatpak.
5) In addition to Mega.nz, now Tarabox is also via official .deb file.
6) The installer now minimizes installation to number of software so that it fits inside 64 GB USB (with about 5GB to spare, when .tar and .deb files are deleted after installation). Additional software installation are now separated into scripts named ‘_extra.sh’ and were not included in the main install only to conserve space though they are as good as the main script installed software.
7) Terabox (1TB free cloud service), exFAT format support ‘exfatprogs’, Firewall control GUI ‘gufw’, mp3 audio adjustment ‘mp3gain’, Rsync GUI ‘grsync’ and file/folder compare tools ‘kompare’, ‘kdiff3’ and ‘meld’ are some of the other new software that has been added.
8) Several software including games, are now installed by apt where available instead of snap/flatpak because apt installation are faster, though snap/flatpak have advantage of virtualization/containerized installation making snap/flatpak more private and secure. Albeit, as this installation is not limited to computer disk or large external USB drive by virtue of its full installation size of 64GB that can fit in USB stick or microSD card providing greater privacy than computer disk, the convenience of apt installation took precedence over the privacy and security provided by snap/flatpak containerized installation. Preferably, your USB, microSD or disk has more space than 64GB in which case you should consider also installing the ‘_extra.sh’ software.
9) It should be mentioned that running linux OS (operating system) from USB or microSD installation does not protect the boot partition even with encryption like LUKS encryption, while running linux OS (operating system) from computer disk can protect boot via administrator password. Albeit, the rest of the USB stick or microSD can be encrypted as well as computer disk for running linux OS (operating system).
10) The installation method is same as the 1st version release, so that guide is still relevant, only the script names have changed in addition to changes mentioned above.
Once downloaded installation of software on kubuntu os, ubuntu os and linuxmint os can be done using the installation scripts in Terminal by moving the downloaded and unzipped folder in home directory (see Quick_Guide provided in the zip download folder).

In today’s digital world, ensuring your computer’s privacy and security has become a top priority. With cyber threats on the rise, many users are looking for reliable alternatives to traditional operating systems like Mac OS and Windows OS. Linux OS emerges as an attractive option due to its focus on user privacy, enhanced security features, and user-friendliness even for traditional Mac and Windows users. Here, I provide a set of 5 scripts for quick installation of various various software packages that I have whitelisted for secure, and reliable use in Linux environments based on personal use, online review and screening for threats during usage by state-of-art security features of ClamAV, Windscribe and AdGuard software. The scripts provide both online (while connected to internet) and offline (discinnected from internet) installation options. Please note that each installation folder, for kubuntu os, ubuntu os and linuxmint os are approximately 60 GB — once downloaded installation of software on kubuntu os, ubuntu os and linuxmint os can be done fully offline using the offline installation script option.
